Best Adobe Creative Suite 3 (CS3) Replacement Icons

An exciting time for us Mac users, this week Adobe CS3 finally officially ships. I've been relying on betas up to this point that are a little buggy in all the wrong ways, so it's a good week.

But no matter how many people get used to Adobe's new periodic table chart'-icons.html, I still can't. Thankfully a handful of great icon artists have come out with some nice candy that's useable, recognizable and chalk full of class! (Click each preview to visit download locations)

1. My personal favorite up to this point is Lou Mantia's beautiful set. They look great in the dock, are very recognizable and look fantastic with the rest of my icons.

2. If you'd prefer something a little more aqua-y, these might be for you. Released on a forum in deep internet by Nuclear Potato, they also look fantastic in the dock but provide a bit more gloss than the other sets.

3. Adam Betts does some amazing work, and last night he decided to release a set of his own, also based off the packaging of Adobe's new CS suite. They look fantastic, a bit more modern than glossy, and again just top notch work.

4. This is another older set, but interesting nonetheless. Nice beveled approach that still has good consistency. I like the use of subtle graphics to change up the standard one-color. Still a bit bright for my taste but some of you aqua-junkies might find a good place for them.

5. If you like the periodic table, there have been a few people that took them and added a little flare to the concept. Koregraphik came up with these quite awhile ago and they still look great as a nice interpretation of the default set.

6. UPDATE: This set just showed up online and I'd thought I'd post it as well being that it's got quite a unique feature over the other sets, transparency. The lower right hand corner of each icon has a space of semi-transparency creating a really nice effect for the icon. I like the creativity of this, adding small touches of design elsewhere when confined to the cube shape.

NOTE: I left comments off on this one as I'd prefer that if you enjoy a particular set that you leave comments on the author's blogs and let them know yourself. I know they'd appreciate it.
